The goal of the project “Decentralised Access to EU microdata sets” was to prove the feasibility of an access to European microdata in safe centres (on site) of the Member States.

 
The question is, whether the implementation of a network of safe centres in the MS is possible and what kind of requirements are necessary for the procedure. According to this, this study of feasibility includes the methodology, guidelines and requirements which are essential to implement an access to European microdata in safe centres of the Member States.

 
The ESSnet project “Decentralised Access to EU microdata sets” was finished in January 2010 and based on the results a recommendation for the implementation of a pilot study for a remote access system was given.
